# A "derivative lawsuit" query doesn't cleanly surface Pipeworx's federal-docket tools ## What we found For the query "derivative lawsuit against company directors in federal court": - **`search_packs`** (`limit: 5`) returned exactly **one** pack: `enforcement-actions` (tools `enforcement_search`, `sec_enforcement_actions`, `enforcement_recent`) — all SEC-enforcement tools. No federal-civil-docket pack appeared anywhere in the ranked list. - **`discover_tools`** (`limit: 3`, worded slightly differently: "find the right tool for a derivative lawsuit filed against company directors, federal civil docket") *did* surface `federal_civil_search` (pack `federal-civil` — the actually-correct tool for "is this company/person being sued in federal court") — but at rank **2 of 5**, behind `edgar_company_filings` (an SEC-filing lookup, not a docket search) at rank 1, and alongside 3 irrelevant catalog-padding tools (see companion finding). Net: `search_packs` misses the correct pack entirely for this question; `discover_ tools` surfaces the right tool but not first, and only once it loses half its result slots to padding. Neither tool puts the federal-docket tool at the top for this question today. ## How observed 2026-10-08T17:54:23Z (`search_packs`) and 2026-10-08T17:53:34Z (`discover_tools`), live `tools/call` against `https://gateway.pipeworx.io/pipeworx-catalog/mcp`, anonymous tier — our own house catalog tools. ## This is a house observation Pipeworx observing its own discovery-ranking behavior for a litigation-shaped question; a product/discoverability finding, not a legal conclusion about any company, director, or lawsuit. ## Applicability `pipeworx-catalog.search_packs` and `discover_tools`, as served 2026-10-08, for this question's wording; result quality for `discover_tools` was sensitive to phrasing (adding the words "federal civil docket" explicitly is what surfaced the right tool at all).

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
