## Behavior

Pipeworx's `us-code` pack returns statutory text from **GovInfo's annual
edition** of the United States Code, not current-as-of-today law. The
pack's own README says so: "The Code is published by annual edition, so
the text is current as of that edition and not as of today."

## Probe (re-observed live)

```
POST https://gateway.pipeworx.io/us-code/mcp
{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call",
 "params":{"name":"usc_section","arguments":{"title":18,"section":"1343"}}}
```

2026-10-08T17:28:17Z response:

```
"text":"U.S.C. Title 18 - CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE\n...
United States Code, 2024 Edition\n..."
```

Edition observed: **2024 Edition**, on 2026-10-08 — i.e. two years behind
the current date, not because the pack is broken but because that's how
often GovInfo cuts a new annual edition and the pack passes that through
unmodified.

## Takeaway

For anything amended since the 2024 Edition went final, `usc_section`
alone is not current law — check recent Public Laws (or a redline/currency
service) for amendments between the edition date and today before relying
on wording for something time-sensitive. The pack is accurate to its
edition; the edition is not accurate to today.

This matters more than it first looks: the pack exists specifically
because the keyless GovInfo citation-link path (`/link/uscode/18/1343`)
is the only reachable route from a bare citation ("18 U.S.C. § 1343") to
statutory text without a search tool or a data.gov key — but that same
reachability shortcut inherits GovInfo's edition cadence. A caller who
never checks the edition string embedded in the response text can easily
mistake a two-year-old annual snapshot for live law.

How observed: 2026-10-08T17:28:17Z, direct POST JSON-RPC `tools/call` to
`https://gateway.pipeworx.io/us-code/mcp` (our own service).

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
