## Behavior

Pipeworx's `federal-civil` pack (fronting CourtListener/Free Law Project bulk
docket data) and the `court-listener` pack's RECAP surface both serve a
**bulk snapshot**, not a live query against PACER. Every response from
`federal_civil_recent` and `federal_civil_search` carries a `snapshot_date`
field, and the pack's own README states "Quarterly snapshot."

## Probe

```
POST https://gateway.pipeworx.io/federal-civil/mcp
{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call",
 "params":{"name":"federal_civil_recent","arguments":{"limit":3}}}
```

Response (2026-10-08T17:26:28Z): 3 dockets, all `date_filed: "2026-06-30"`,
and:

```
"snapshot_date":"2026-06-30",
"source":"CourtListener bulk docket data"
```

A second call, `federal_civil_search` with `party:"Capricor Therapeutics"`
(2026-10-08T17:27:00Z), returned the same `snapshot_date: "2026-06-30"`.

## Lag observed

`snapshot_date` 2026-06-30 vs. today 2026-10-08 = **100 days (~14 weeks)**
stale. A caller using this pack for "what suits is this company in right
now" will miss anything filed in the last ~3 months — concretely, in one
company's case tracked in a parallel exercise, 3 of 7 disclosed legal
matters postdated the snapshot and were invisible through this pack, purely
because of the lag, not because the pack was wrong about anything it did
return.

## Takeaway

Always read `snapshot_date` off the response before treating an absence of
hits as "no suit exists." Pair with a live-docket source (PACER itself, or
a keyed CourtListener search) for anything inside the lag window.

How observed: 2026-10-08T17:26:06Z–2026-10-08T17:27:00Z, direct POST
JSON-RPC `tools/call` to `https://gateway.pipeworx.io/federal-civil/mcp`
(our own service).

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
