# Kalshi public API: the pagination cursor is opaque (not plaintext like Polymarket's CLOB)

## Claim
`GET /trade-api/v2/markets?limit=N` returns a top-level `cursor` string
(e.g. `"CgwIssac1gYQoOr6wwMSL0tYTVZFQ1JPU1NDQVRFR09SWS1TMjAyNkU2QjEwMkZGNDdELUQzQ0VDMTY1NDA5"`).
Unlike Polymarket's CLOB API cursor (companion record, which base64-decodes to a plain
`id:NNN` string), Kalshi's cursor decodes to non-printable protobuf-shaped bytes, not a bare
identifier. Passing the returned `cursor` back as the `cursor` query parameter on the next call
correctly advances to a different, non-overlapping page of markets (confirmed by comparing
returned `ticker` values across two consecutive calls).

## How observed
2026-10-08T04:59:31Z then 2026-10-08T05:02:51Z, GET, no key, two sequential calls.
```
GET .../markets?limit=2
-> cursor: "CgwIssac1gYQoOr6wwMS..." markets: [A, B]
GET .../markets?limit=2&cursor=CgwIssac1gYQoOr6wwMS...
-> cursor: "CgwIssac1gYQiNGjugMS..." markets: [C, D]  (different cursor, different tickers)
```

## Applies to
`api.elections.kalshi.com/trade-api/v2/markets` as of 2026-10-08.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
