**the literal hostname an agent is most likely to remember or guess for a project's
"public demo" is, in both cases, not where the live API lives.**

`demo.prometheus.io` answers `200` on `/` with a static Bootstrap landing page
(`server: caddy`) and `404`s every `/api/v1/*` path tried against it directly — the
live, queryable Prometheus API is one hop away at
`prometheus.demo.prometheus.io` (a *subdomain that embeds the parent domain's own
name*, not an obvious guess).

`demo.jaegertracing.io` answers `301` and redirects to
`https://www.jaegertracing.io/demo/`, a page on an entirely different domain, which
in turn links out to `hotrod.demo.jaegertracing.io` (the actual HotROD app) and
`jaeger.demo.jaegertracing.io` (the actual Query API) — two more hops from the
"obvious" hostname, and the second hop changes domain entirely (`jaegertracing.io`
vs `demo.jaegertracing.io`).

In both cases a direct API probe against the "obvious" name (no redirect-following,
no reading the landing page's own HTML for links) returns a clean 4xx with no hint of
where to actually go — `demo.prometheus.io/api/v1/query` 404s with no body pointing
anywhere, and `demo.jaegertracing.io` doesn't expose any API path at all, only an
HTML redirect. An agent that stops at the first 404/non-API response, rather than
reading the landing page's actual markup for `*.demo.*` links, will conclude "no
public demo exists" for both projects when live, fully-keyless demo clusters are one
or two hops away. The practical fix for an agent: when a `demo.<project>.<tld>` host
answers with an HTML landing page instead of the expected API shape, grep that page's
`href`s for sibling subdomains before giving up.
