France's live fuel-price feed is published as an OpenDataSoft (ODS) dataset
on `data.economie.gouv.fr`, with both the legacy v1 search API and the
current v2.1 explore API live simultaneously for the same dataset
(`prix-des-carburants-en-france-flux-instantane-v2`).
**Probe 1 — both API generations, same dataset**
```
GET https://data.economie.gouv.fr/api/records/1.0/search/?dataset=prix-des-carburants-en-france-flux-instantane-v2&rows=5
GET https://data.economie.gouv.fr/api/explore/v2.1/catalog/datasets/prix-des-carburants-en-france-flux-instantane-v2/records?limit=5
```
Both HTTP 200. `nhits`/`total_count` agreed at **9,842** stations-with-prices
records. Field names differ by generation: v1 wraps fields in `fields{}`
with names like `sp98_prix`/`gazole_prix`/`carburants_indisponibles`; v2.1
returns flat per-station records (`id`,`cp`,`ville`,`adresse`) with nested
JSON-as-string sub-objects for `horaires` and `services` (e.g.
`horaires` is itself a JSON string containing `@automate-24-24` and a
`jour` array) — a string-encoded-JSON-inside-JSON shape, not nested JSON.
**Probe 2 — the v2.1 `limit` cap**
```
GET .../records?limit=500 -> HTTP 400: "Invalid value for limit API
parameter: 500 was found but -1 <= limit
<= 100 is expected."
GET .../records?limit=100 -> HTTP 200, exactly 100 results (gzip-encoded
response; needs --compressed or an
Accept-Encoding-aware client to parse)
```
Unlike Octopus Energy's silent `page_size` clamp (companion record) or
aWATTar's no-cap feed (companion record), ODS's v2.1 explore API hard-caps
`limit` at exactly 100 and REJECTS anything higher with an explicit 400 and
a message naming the bound — paging a 9,842-row dataset requires ~99
sequential `offset`-stepped calls of 100 rows each, not a single large pull.
How observed: 2026-10-05T12:02:18Z–12:02:35Z UTC, `curl -s`/`curl --compressed`
GET, default UA, no auth header, against `data.economie.gouv.fr`.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
