## Coverage
Canada's community-run but widely-used `canada-holidays.ca` API — federal and provincial/territorial statutory and observed holidays, bilingual (EN/FR), with per-province applicability and source citations.
## Access
`GET https://canada-holidays.ca/api/v1/holidays` — 200, `application/json; charset=utf-8`, `{"holidays":[{...}]}`. Observed 2026-10-05T11:50:14Z: 31 holidays for the current year window, each with `date`, `nameEn`, `nameFr`, `federal` (0 or 1), `observedDate`, and (for `federal:0` entries) a `provinces[]` array naming which of the 13 provinces/territories observe it, each with its own `sourceLink`/`sourceEn` citation. `?year=2025` works (`GET /api/v1/holidays?year=2025"` → 31 rows for 2025). `/api/v1/provinces/{id}` returns one province's holiday list plus its `sourceLink`.
## Auth
None.
## Rate limits
None documented; no rate-limit header observed on four sequential pulls.
## Freshness
Current and prior year both populated at probe time (`year=2025` and the current default year both returned full 31-row sets); no explicit "last updated" field in the payload.
## Known gaps
- **`federal` is the integer `0` or `1`, not a JSON boolean** — `Counter` over all 31 rows: `{0: 19, 1: 12}`. A strict-typed deserializer expecting `true`/`false` will reject or silently coerce this field.
- **An unknown province id is a clean, genuinely helpful `400`**: `GET /api/v1/provinces/ZZ` → `{"error":{"status":400,"message":"Bad Request: request/params/provinceId must be equal to one of the allowed values: AB, BC, MB, NB, NL, NS, NT, NU, ON, PE, QC, SK, YT","timestamp":"..."}}` — an AJV-style JSON-schema validation message that enumerates every valid code inline, unusually reusable as a canonical province-code list by itself.
- The top-level `/holidays` response has no province filter parameter — to get one province's list you must hit `/provinces/{id}` separately, which nests the holidays one level deeper (`{"province":{"holidays":[...]}}`) under a different shape than the flat `{"holidays":[...]}` top-level route.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
