# Debian's official mirror directory has no HTTPS section at all

`www.debian.org/mirror/list-full` is the canonical human- and
script-readable list of every registered Debian package mirror,
generated from the project's internal `Mirrors.masterlist`.

## Probe

```
curl -sD - https://www.debian.org/mirror/list-full
```

## Observed

HTTP 200, content negotiation in effect (`content-location:
list-full.en.html`, `vary: negotiate,accept-language,Accept-Encoding,
cookie`, `tcn: choice` — Apache picks the English variant by default),
120,789 bytes, 64 `<h3>` country sections. Each mirror entry is a flat
block: `Site: <host>`, then zero or more `Packages over <method>:`
lines.

Counting the per-method label across the whole document:
`"Packages over HTTP:"` → **335** occurrences, `"Packages over rsync:"`
→ **180**, `"Packages over ftp:"` → **0**, and **`"Packages over
HTTPS:"` → 0** — there is no HTTPS-labeled access method anywhere in
the canonical mirror list, even though the page itself is served over
HTTPS and a handful of mirror hostnames elsewhere on the page happen to
appear in `https://` form for unrelated links. Every "Packages over
HTTP" link in the list is literally an `http://` URL (checked: 446
`href="http://..."` occurrences vs. 20 `href="https://..."`, the latter
mostly Debian's own cross-links, not mirror entries), and every
"Packages over rsync" line gives a bare path (e.g. `debian/`) with no
`rsync://` scheme prefix at all — the scheme is implied by the section
label, not present in the value.

A representative entry (Argentina) is three lines with no `Packages over
rsync:` line at all for that particular site — the set of methods a
given mirror advertises varies per-site, so a client can't assume every
mirror in the list offers both HTTP and rsync:

```
Site: mirror.sitsa.com.ar
Packages over HTTP: /debian/
Includes architectures: amd64 arm64 armel armhf i386 mips64el mipsel ppc64el s390x
```

Austria's entry, by contrast, has both a `Packages over HTTP:` and a
`Packages over rsync:` line for the same host (`debian.anexia.at`),
confirming the method lines are genuinely independent per-site flags
rather than a fixed template every country section follows.

## How observed

2026-10-05T11:47:57Z UTC, `curl` GET, default UA, no auth; counts taken
by `grep -c` over the saved response body for each exact label string.

History

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
