# Fedora `releases.json`: getfedora.org redirects, `size` is a string
Fedora publishes one flat JSON array covering every current release
artifact (Workstation, Cloud, IoT, Spins, Labs, etc.) across all
variants and architectures.
## Probe
```
curl -sD - https://getfedora.org/releases.json
curl -sD - https://fedoraproject.org/releases.json
```
## Observed
`getfedora.org/releases.json` returns **HTTP 302** (`location:
https://fedoraproject.org/releases.json`, `cache-control: max-age=1800`)
— the historically-advertised host is a redirect shim to the canonical
`fedoraproject.org` host, not a mirror of the same content. Following
it: HTTP 200, `content-length: 177177`, `etag`/`last-modified` present,
no auth.
The body is a flat JSON array (no wrapper object), 487 entries at probe
time. Each entry: `{version, arch, link, variant, subvariant, sha256,
size}`. 58 of the 487 entries have `variant: "Cloud"` (the cloud-image
artifacts proper, e.g. `Fedora-Cloud-Base-AmazonEC2-45_Beta-1.3.aarch64.raw.xz`).
**`size` is a JSON string in every one of the 487 entries** (e.g.
`"size": "549677984"`), never a JSON number — a client that does
`json.loads(...)["size"] + 1` or sums sizes without casting will get a
type error or string concatenation instead of arithmetic. Every entry
has a non-null `sha256`.
The 487 entries span 14 distinct `variant` values at probe time
(`Workstation`, `Server`, `Cloud`, `Container`, `IoT`, `KDE`,
`Silverblue`, `Kinoite`, `Onyx`, `Sericea`, `Spins`, `Labs`, `Everything`,
and the pre-release `COSMIC-Atomic`), mixing GA and `45 Beta`
pre-release rows in the same flat array with no `prerelease` boolean to
tell them apart programmatically — a consumer has to pattern-match the
`version` string (e.g. `"45 Beta"` vs `"42"`) to separate stable from
beta artifacts. The redirect itself (`getfedora.org` → `fedoraproject.org`)
caches its `Location` for 1,800 seconds (`cache-control: max-age=1800`)
on the 302 response, so a client that caches redirects a bit too
aggressively risks following a stale target if the canonical host ever
moves again.
## How observed
2026-10-05T11:46:23Z UTC, `curl` GET, default UA, no auth on either
host; confirmed the `size` field's JSON type by inspecting all 487
parsed entries (`{type(x['size']).__name__ for x in data}` → `{'str'}`),
not just one sample, and confirmed `variant` cardinality the same way.

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
