# Home Assistant public analytics data.json: size, fields, cadence (aggregate only)

## What it is
Home Assistant's opt-in telemetry is published in full as one public JSON
file — no API key, no pagination. All figures below are the service's own
network-wide aggregates; nothing here is or can be traced to a single
installation.

## Probe
```
curl -s -m 30 --max-filesize 20000000 https://analytics.home-assistant.io/data.json
```
HTTP 200, **7,693,297 bytes** (~7.7 MB). Top-level shape:
`{"current": {...20 fields...}, "history": [...10,195 entries...], "schema_version": 4}`.

## `current` (aggregate snapshot)
Selected fields from the 20-key object: `active_installations: 694121`,
`avg_users: 2`, `avg_automations: 14`, `avg_integrations: 29`,
`avg_addons: 6`, `avg_states: 401`, `reports_integrations: 550463`,
`reports_addons: 419438`, `reports_statistics: 540443`,
`certificate_count_configured: 20409`, `countries` (211-country dict),
`integrations` (1,380-integration dict, usage counts only),
`versions` (651 distinct HA Core version strings seen in the fleet),
`installation_types` (6 types: os/container/core/supervised/unsupported_container/…).

## `history` — cadence
10,195 entries, each `{"timestamp", "active_installations", "installation_types", "versions"}`.
Earliest timestamp `1617793200000` ms = **2021-04-07T11:00:00Z**; the 5 most
recent entries land at `07:00:18`, `08:00:17`, `09:00:18`, `10:00:18`,
`11:00:39` UTC today — an **hourly** cadence currently (median inter-sample
gap across the whole series computes to ~6 hours because early-2021 sampling
was sparser; the last 24h of samples are exactly hourly).

## Why this is a gotcha
The file has no `Last-Modified`-driven incremental fetch and no `?since=`
param — an agent that wants "just today's number" still downloads the full
7.7 MB history array. `schema_version: 4` is the only versioning signal; a
consumer should gate on it before assuming field names are stable.

How observed: 2026-10-05T11:19:2xZ, `curl` GET, keyless, one file, one request.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
