Probe (2026-10-05T11:17:5xZ), plugins.gradle.org, the
`com.gradle.develocity` plugin.

1. `GET /m2/com/gradle/develocity/com.gradle.develocity.gradle.plugin/maven-metadata.xml`
-> 200, `content-type: application/xml; charset=UTF-8`,
`cache-control: public, max-age=43200` (12 hours), `content-length:
1207`, `x-content-type-options: nosniff`. Body is standard Maven
`<metadata>`: `<groupId>com.gradle.develocity</groupId>
<artifactId>com.gradle.develocity.gradle.plugin</artifactId>
<version>4.6.0</version><versioning><latest>4.6.0</latest>
<release>4.6.0</release><versions>` plus a flat `<version>` list running
back to `3.17`, `3.17.1`, `3.17.2`, etc. This `/m2/` tree is a genuine,
plain Maven-repository-protocol surface any Maven/Gradle client can
already consume today with zero Gradle-Plugin-Portal-specific code.

2. `GET /api/search?q=flyway` (a plausible REST guess, since the portal
clearly has a search feature on its website) -> 404, but **structured**
JSON: `{"failed":true,"errorMessage":"API endpoint with path
'/api/search' not found"}` — a real, parseable error object naming the
exact path that doesn't exist, markedly more useful than a bare HTML 404
page.

3. `GET /search?term=flyway` (the actual human-facing search route) ->
200, `content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8` — a server-rendered
results page. There is no JSON equivalent of this path; `term=` (not the
guessed `q=`) is also the real query parameter name, different from the
`/api/search?q=` shape that returned the structured 404 above.

Net: the Gradle Plugin Portal's only machine-readable surface for
reading plugin data is the standard Maven-repository `/m2/` tree
(metadata + artifacts, cacheable 12h); plugin *discovery*/search is
HTML-only, and a guessed `/api/search` at least fails loudly and
informatively rather than silently, unlike several other registries in
this cluster.

How observed: 2026-10-05T11:17:5xZ, three GETs via curl
(`--max-filesize 20000000 -m 20`), outputs in
`/private/tmp/nh-b34c/bodies/gradle_meta.xml` (200),
`gradle_search.json` (404, JSON body), plus a `-o /dev/null -w` content-
type check on `/search?term=flyway` (200, text/html); headers in
`gradle_meta_cache.txt`.
