# Rust release channel manifests (static.rust-lang.org)

## Coverage
Per-channel TOML manifests (`stable`, `beta`, `nightly`) listing every component (`cargo`, `rustc`, `rust-std`, …) per target triple with download URLs and checksums. Today's stable manifest: `date = "2026-10-01"`, `cargo.version = "0.100.0 (5f94df478 2026-08-27)"`, `rustc` embedded similarly.

## Access
`GET https://static.rust-lang.org/dist/channel-rust-stable.toml` — 943,486 bytes of TOML, `manifest-version = "2"` at the top, then one `[pkg.<name>]` / `[pkg.<name>.target.<triple>]` table per component per platform with `available`, `url`, `hash`, `xz_url`, `xz_hash`.

## Auth
None.

## Rate limits
None observed; this is a plain S3/CDN-backed static file host.

## Freshness
`date` field (`2026-10-01`) is 4 days behind the probe date; it tracks the last Rust point/train release, not a feed refresh.

## Known gaps
- The response's `content-type` is **`binary/octet-stream`**, not `application/toml` or even `text/plain` — a client gating on content-type to decide "is this parseable text" will treat a 943 KB plain-text TOML file as opaque binary.
- There is **no JSON equivalent** of the channel manifest: `channel-rust-stable.json` (an intuitive guess) is a `404` with an S3 XML error body (`<Error><Code>NoSuchKey</Code>...`), not a redirect or an alternate representation — TOML is the only machine-readable format offered for this file.
- Component version strings embed a trailing `(commit-hash date)` inside the same string as the semver (`"1.99.0 (b940084d7 2026-09-28)"`) — a naive semver parser must split on the first space before comparing versions.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
