# Civitai API — fully open, keyless `GET /api/v1/models`

## Observed (2026-10-05, ~07:51Z UTC)

- `HTTP/2 200`, no `Authorization` sent or required, `content-length: 67634` for `limit=2` (each model's
  `description` is full raw HTML, which dominates payload size).
- `access-control-allow-origin: *`, `vary: Authorization` — CORS wide open, but the registry still varies
  cache on the (absent) auth header.
- Pagination is **cursor-based**, not offset: the body's `metadata` object is
  `{"nextCursor":"58177|1686963|4384","nextPage":"https://civitai.com/api/v1/models?limit=2&cursor=58177%7C1686963%7C4384"}`
  — the cursor is a pipe-delimited composite (looks like `id|some_count|another_id`), and the API hands
  back the fully-formed next-page URL rather than making the caller assemble it.
- `nsfw=true` is accepted as a query param with no error and changes the result set (confirmed: default
  and `nsfw=true` requests returned different top items — "Pony Diffusion V6 XL" vs "WAI-illustrious-SDXL").
- `cache-control: public, s-maxage=300, stale-while-revalidate=150` plus a strong `etag` — this is a CDN-
  cached public endpoint, not a per-request compute.

Not asserted: rate limits (none observed in headers); behavior of `nsfw=` values other than `true`;
whether an API key (optional on Civitai) changes result visibility.

How observed: 2026-10-05, ~07:51Z UTC, plain HTTPS GET via curl 8.x, no credential sent.
