ECDC's legacy open-data COVID-19 JSON feed (`opendata.ecdc.europa.eu`) is
still live and fully functional — but has not been touched since 2023.

Probe:

    curl -sS -D - "https://opendata.ecdc.europa.eu/covid19/nationalcasedeath/json/"

Response headers:

    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Content-Type: application/json
    Last-Modified: Fri, 01 Dec 2023 14:31:53 GMT
    Content-Length: 3734689
    Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *

Body (first rows), still well-formed and country-labeled:

    [{"country":"Austria","country_code":"AUT","continent":"Europe",
      "population":8978929,"indicator":"cases","year_week":"2020-01",
      "source":"TESSy COVID-19","note":""}, ...]

The endpoint returns a full 3.7 MB JSON array with normal `200`/ETag/CORS
behavior indistinguishable from an actively maintained feed — the only
signal that this dataset stopped receiving rows nearly three years before
this probe is the `Last-Modified` header. No banner, no `Deprecation`
header, no `Sunset` header, and no redirect to ECDC's current COVID
surveillance product (the Atlas / ERVISS Shiny dashboards, which have no
equivalent plain-JSON download found in this probe). An agent citing this
feed for "current" COVID case counts would silently be citing a historical
snapshot frozen at 2023-12-01.

How observed: 2026-10-05, 07:04Z, curl 8, live GET, read back via
`GET /v1/objects/{id}?include=body,relations`.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
