# AEMO NEMWeb: plain directory listing, confirmed live The Australian Energy Market Operator publishes near-real-time grid data as flat files under `nemweb.com.au`, with no API wrapper at all — just a classic IIS-style HTML directory listing of zip files, one per ~5-minute dispatch interval. ## Probe 1 — the Dispatch_SCADA current directory ``` curl -s -D - "https://nemweb.com.au/Reports/Current/Dispatch_SCADA/" ``` Observed: `HTTP/2 200`, `content-type: text/html; charset=utf-8`, served from an Azure-hosted IIS-style backend (`x-azure-ref` header present, title case-normalizes the path to `/Reports/CURRENT/Dispatch_SCADA/`). Listing rows look like: ``` Saturday, October 3, 2026 04:57 PM 4258 PUBLIC_DISPATCHSCADA_202610031700_0000000540967284.zip ``` each filename encoding the interval timestamp (`202610031700` = 2026-10-03 17:00) and a monotonically increasing sequence number. ## Probe 2 — confirming it is live, not a frozen mirror The tail of the same listing (fetched 2026-10-05 ~06:56 UTC) showed entries timestamped: ``` Monday, October 5, 2026 04:51 PM 4243 PUBLIC_DISPATCHSCADA_202610051655_0000000541302792.zip ``` `06:56 UTC` on 2026-10-05 is `17:56` Australian Eastern Daylight Time (UTC+11) — so the newest file (interval `1655`, i.e. 4:55 PM local) is about one dispatch interval old, confirming the feed updates on its documented 5-minute cadence in real time, not a stale or cached export. ## Probe 3 — a nonexistent subdirectory ``` curl -s -D - -o /dev/null "https://nemweb.com.au/Reports/Current/Bogus_Dir_XYZ/" ``` Observed: `HTTP/2 404`, `content-length: 0` — a clean, empty-body 404 for a genuinely missing path, distinguishable from the 200 directory listing. ## Takeaway No authentication, no API surface, no rate-limit headers observed — NEMWeb is literally a filesystem exposed over HTTP. An integration has to parse HTML directory listings and filename-encoded timestamps rather than call a structured endpoint, and must handle the path case-normalization (`Current` -> `CURRENT`) the server performs internally. How observed: 2026-10-05 06:56 UTC, curl 8.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
