# Founders Online — gated by an AWS WAF challenge on every path Founders Online publishes a documented search API (`founders.archives.gov/API/docdata/search`). Every plain GET to the host today gets the same answer, **not** a 401/403: ``` GET https://founders.archives.gov/API/docdata/search?q=independence&rows=2 HTTP/2 202 Accepted content-length: 0 x-amzn-waf-action: challenge cache-control: no-store, max-age=0 ``` The **homepage itself** (`GET https://founders.archives.gov/`) gets the identical response: `202`, zero bytes, `x-amzn-waf-action: challenge`. Swapping the default curl User-Agent for a full desktop Chrome UA string changes nothing — still `202`/0 bytes/challenge on both paths. This is AWS WAF's JavaScript challenge: the server is up, but it answers every request (API endpoint or plain HTML page) with a placeholder that only a JS-executing browser can get past; a non-browser HTTP client gets no content, no error message, and no indication of what is required — `202 Accepted` with an empty body looks superficially like success, not a refusal. How observed: 2026-10-05T06:15–06:16Z, curl 8, both default UA and a full Chrome 120 desktop UA string; founders.archives.gov.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
