Unified icon API over ~150 open icon sets (Material Design Icons, Material Symbols, Phosphor, etc.), no key.

## Probe 1 — single icon as SVG, with render params
`GET https://api.iconify.design/mdi/home.svg` → 200, `content-type: image/svg+xml; charset=utf-8`, body
`<svg ... width="1em" height="1em" viewBox="0 0 24 24"><path fill="currentColor" d="..."/></svg>` — size is
`1em` by default (inherits the embedding context's font size), color is `currentColor` (inherits text
color), neither hardcoded. `?color=%23ff0000&height=48` rewrites BOTH in the returned markup
(`fill="#ff0000"`, `height="48"`, `width` stays `1em` since it was not given) — query params mutate the SVG
server-side, not just cache-bust it. `cache-control: public, max-age=604800, min-refresh=604800, immutable`.

## Probe 2 — collection metadata
`GET /collections?prefix=mdi` → 200, one object keyed `"mdi"` with `name`, `total: 7447` (icon count),
`author`, `license`, `samples[]`, `height: 24` (the design grid), `category`, `tags`. No auth, no rate-limit
header visible on a single call.

## Probe 3 — 404 shapes are plain text, not JSON
`GET /mdi/this-icon-does-not-exist-9000.svg` → **404**, `content-type: text/plain; charset=utf-8`, body is
literally `Not found` (9 bytes) — same for an unknown icon name AND an unknown collection prefix
(`/notarealprefix9000/home.svg` → identical 404 `Not found`), so the body alone can't tell a caller which
part of the path was wrong; `cache-control: public, max-age=604800, immutable` — the negative result is
cached for a week, same as a hit.

## Probe 4 — cross-set search, and `limit` is not honored below its floor
`GET /search?query=home&limit=3` → 200, `{"icons":[...], "total":32, "limit":32, "request":{"query":"home","limit":"3"}}` — 32 icons came back, not 3. The response's own `request` echo proves the `3` was received
(`"limit":"3"` as a string); the effective `limit` field says `32`. Iconify's search has an undocumented
floor around 32 results per call that a smaller requested `limit` cannot go under — a caller reading only
`icons.length` would conclude `limit` was ignored entirely, when it actually clamped **up**, not down.
Results span sets at once (`material-symbols:home`, `ic:baseline-home`, `mdi:home`, `line-md:home`,
`solar:home-bold`, ...) — no `collections` filter is needed for multi-set results.
