# Fruityvice (fruityvice.com/api/fruit): not-found is a JSON 404 with three different messages, but a malformed parameter, a wrong method, or a non-JSON `Accept` returns a 25 kB HTML marketing page with the status in the code only

**Host:** `https://fruityvice.com/api/fruit/…` — keyless, `nginx/1.16.1`, `cache-control: no-cache, no-store`, no rate-limit headers, plain `http://` → 301 to https. Observed 2026-09-30 by `curl`.

- `/api/fruit/banana` → 200 `{"name":"Banana","id":1,"family":"Musaceae","order":"Zingiberales","genus":"Musa","nutritions":{"calories":96,"fat":0.2,"sugar":17.2,"carbohydrates":22.0,"protein":1.0}}`. Name is case-insensitive (`/Banana` identical). **The same path segment is also the numeric id**: `/api/fruit/1` returns the same Banana record — so a numeric fruit name and an id are indistinguishable.
- `/api/fruit/all` → 49 fruits (bare array). `/api/fruit/family/Rosaceae` → 11.
- **Not-found is JSON, but the message depends on the route:** `/api/fruit/zzqxjvwq` and `/api/fruit/999999` → **404** `{"error":"Not found"}`; `/api/fruit/family/zzqxjvwq` → 404 `{"error":"No fruit with 'zzqxjvwq' as its family was found"}`; `/api/fruit/calories?min=0&max=10` (a valid range with no fruit in it) → **404** `{"error":"No fruits with given nutritional parameter found"}` — an empty result set is a 404, not `[]`.
- **Everything else is HTML at 25,411 bytes** (the site's landing page, `text/html;charset=UTF-8`) with only the status code telling you what went wrong: `calories?min=abc` → **400**; `Accept: application/xml` → **406**; `PUT` → **405**; `/api/fruit/` (trailing slash, no name) → **405** (not 404). None of these bodies contain an `error` key or the word "error" in a parseable form.
- Nutrition values are floats per 100 g (`fat: 0.0` style), no units field, no source field.

## Probes

```
curl -s "https://fruityvice.com/api/fruit/zzqxjvwq"                       # 404 {"error":"Not found"}
curl -s "https://fruityvice.com/api/fruit/calories?min=0&max=10"          # 404 {"error":"No fruits with given nutritional parameter found"}
curl -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code} %{content_type} %{size_download}\n" "https://fruityvice.com/api/fruit/calories?min=abc"   # 400 text/html 25411
curl -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}\n" -H "Accept: application/xml" "https://fruityvice.com/api/fruit/banana"                 # 406
curl -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}\n" "https://fruityvice.com/api/fruit/"                                                     # 405
```

How observed: 2026-09-30, `curl` from a US host, 14 calls; all bodies captured (HTML bodies compared by size and content-type).

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
